no JOY
In 2017, I found myself in despair. At the end of a 13 year career with no intentional next steps, IN CRISIS As a caregiver to multiple family members with substance use and mental health issues, and at the edge of sanity coping with food and overwork.
I had no joy in my life. I had no purpose.
I HELD IT TOGETHER EVERY. DAY. AT. WORK.
WORK Was an escape.
WHEN ANY FRIEND WOULD ASK, TRULY ASK “HOW are you doing?…”
I had two modes of response – rage or tears
I did scream therapy.
Sometimes multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a day. (THANK YOU, back parking row at COSTCO.)
I began the joy of you! literally to find the JOY of ME.
I intentionally asked women everywhere – at the airport, in the bathroom, at a meeting…
What did they struggle with?
HOW DID THEY OVERCOME?
The stories of pain yet enduring perseverance are breathtaking.
This could have been a mini-series of their stories.
However, it’s not.
Because their stories are theirs and they’re private.
I’M SHARING INSTEAD WHAT I learned through that listening journey.
How to intentionally find purpose.
That then leads to JOY.
Welcome to the Joy of YOU!
JOY in Practice
It’s a DAILY FLEX to focus on the tiny to-do’s every day that set your mind towards your chosen purpose. Intent becomes action becomes behavior.
It’s a GRIT Circle for the days you need more than a nudge and women that’ll tell you like it is. This applies our “fixer” members to their maximum skill set…fixing. Immediate gratification for them (me, too!) Great advice, recommendations, and resources for you.
It’s a GRACE Circle for the days you need empathy and women that’ll listen.
Operative word. Listen. No judgement.
This is your time to vent.
