As Purdue’s first and only women-centric hackathon, InnovateHer is a 24-hour experience that brings underrepresented
voices to the center of the tech conversation. InnovateHer creates space for students to build, collaborate, and solve real-world
problems—while being seen, supported, and celebrated.
This event is bigger than just one weekend — it is building a future where innovation includes everyone.

Behind the Event
STEM fields have long struggled with diversity, particularly when it comes to the representation of women and gender
minorities. According to a 2022 Scientific American report, women earn only 20% of computer science and engineering
undergraduate degrees in the U.S.
Technology shapes the systems we rely on every day—from healthcare to finance to education. But when the people
building those systems don’t reflect the people they serve, gaps grow. Innovation becomes limited. That’s why Purdue students created InnovateHer.
